The history of ISAR - Historically, the British Fire Service has been responding to disasters overseas for a number of years.
Contact International Search & Rescue Service - The UK Fire Service Search and Rescue Team (UKFSSART) has components supplied by 13 UK Fire and Rescue Services. Each service undertakes to provide a 6-person team of search and rescue specialists.
Ofunato, Japan11/03/2011 attended by ISAR. - A magnitude 9.0 eathquake which struck just off the east coast of Japan approximately 250 miles north of Tokyo. This was followed in many coastal areas by a devestating tsunami. Deployment Commander Pete Stevenson (Greater Manchester)
Port-au-Prince, Haiti13/01/2010 attended by ISAR. - A 7.2 magnitude shallow earthquake that caused devastation around the heavily populated capital city of Port-au-Prince. Deployment Commander Mike Thomas (Lincolnshire)
Van Province, Turkey23/10/2011 attended by ISAR. - 7.2 magnitude at a depth of 20kms struck at 1041 hrs this morning (UK time)
Team is on standby pending a request for international assistance
LAnnual Exercise News Event from ISAR. - The annual UKISAR training and evaluation exercise will take place in Lincolnshire from the 1st to the 5th of October
LTurkey Earthquake News Event from ISAR. - Although the team were mobilised within 6 hours of the earthquake occurring international search and rescue assistance was not requested by the Turkish Authorities. The team have therefore been stood down
